Seamless stainless steel tubes from WITTE HiTEMP are manufactured for use under extreme thermal and mechanical conditions. They are produced from a single block and therefore have a consistently homogeneous wall structure. Welded pipes lack this uniformity: their weld seam is the point where they first fail under high pressure, fluctuating temperatures or aggressive media.
Used in demanding industrial processes, our seamless pipes deliver maximum reliability and material integrity. At our facility in Rastede we hold a broad range of seamless stainless steel pipe dimensions in heat resistant special grades in stock across roughly 12,000 m², so the right pipe is available without long lead times. We supply further dimensions at short notice through our
worldwide network.
To which standards are seamless stainless steel pipes manufactured?
Our seamless pipes are manufactured to internationally recognised standards and are supplied as standard with the usual inspection certificates to EN 10204. Individual testing and documentation to customer-specific requirements are available on request.

Seamless pipes in acid resistant stainless steel
Alongside heat resistance, the materials we use offer strong resistance to corrosive and aggressive media. A seamless stainless steel pipe in acid-resistant steel is therefore the right choice for applications in the chemical and petrochemical industry, where high temperatures and corrosive conditions occur at the same time.
Our acid resistant seamless pipes combine heat resistance, oxidation resistance and corrosion protection in a single component — without compromising mechanical stability.
Are seamless stainless steel pipes suitable for hydrogen applications?
Hydrogen places particularly demanding requirements on piping materials, above all with regard to hydrogen embrittlement. Austenitic stainless steel grades such as 1.4841, 1.4845 and 1.4878 have a face-centred cubic crystal structure, which makes them fundamentally more resistant to hydrogen embrittlement than ferritic or martensitic steels — and therefore generally suitable for use in hydrogen-carrying systems.
Whether a seamless stainless steel pipe is suitable for your specific H2 application depends on operating pressure, temperature and the applicable standards, such as ASME B31.12 for hydrogen piping. What pressure ratings do seamless pipes offer?
Compared with welded pipe, a seamless stainless steel pipe offers a decisive advantage in pressurised applications:
Because there is no weld seam, the seam factor otherwise required by standards — which reduces the permissible operating pressure of welded pipe by up to 30% — does not apply. For the same wall thickness and outside diameter, a seamless pipe therefore achieves a higher permissible pressure rating than the equivalent welded pipe (see also our page on welded stainless steel pipes (/en/products/stainless-steel-articles/pipes/welded-pipes/)).
The actual permissible pressure rating results from wall thickness, outside diameter, material and operating temperature, calculated to the applicable standards such as EN 13480, AD 2000 or ASME B31.3. We work with you to determine the right parameters for your specific application.
